A long yet pleasant 15 mile walk on fields and woods in Limpsfield.

My sore legs and feet with blisters did not spoil the joy of my Journey in a great mix of the artificial, semi artificial and wild woods, patched with some grasslands.

Chicken of the Woods!

ちなみにマイタケの英名はthe Hen of the Woods=森のめんどり。

My first encounter with the Chicken of the Woods, which I have been in search of.

Some say its texture and taste resembles those of chicken.

It was grown on a fallen dead tree, which I could not identify.

It is said that some of them that grow on the Yew tree could cause severe stomach upset in some people.

I picked this individual as I decided it to be safe, for there was not a Yew in sight in this mainly deciduous wood.

Similarly named, Hens of the Woods or Maitake Mushroom, also could be found in the UK, although rare.

In Japan it is an extremely popular food which you can find in any supermarket.
